Friends of Ardee Bog

Friends of Ardee Bog is a community led group based in Ardee County Louth dedicated to conserving, restoring and promoting Ardee Bog - a unique ecosystem in County Louth and Ireland's most Easterly Raised Bog. Our group is made up of local residents, retired people, turf-cutters, horticulturists, artists, archaeologists, farmers, local historians and other people interested in Ardee Bog who believe in its ecological and cultural importance in our locality.

Our shared vision is to conserve and restore the bog, where possible, and share its beauty, peculiarity and magic with our community.

We are actively working to restore a small former turf cutting plot in Corstown and as part of this we have been taking part in community learning opportunities, biodiversity training, surveying and other educational activities. We have also been carrying out social and cultural work - collecting oral histories, promoting the bog through schools engagement and community social events as well arts and cultural opportunities, photography and documentation of the bog and much more.
